SCREENWRITERS TRIBUTE
The Nantucket Film Festival’s most esteemed awards honor the careers of noted screenwriters who have brought distinction to the craft of writing for film.

 

SHOWTIME’S TONY COX SCREENPLAY COMPETITION
The highest award of the annual NFF Screenplay Competition, this jury prize recognizes an emerging screenplay as the best from the pool of submissions each year. The jury is composed of individuals from the film community with original and diverse points of view.

 

SHOWTIME’S TONY COX AWARD FOR SCREENWRITING IN A FEATURE FILM
SHOWTIME'S TONY COX AWARD FOR SCREENWRITING IN A SHORT FILM
The screenplays displaying the most skillful writing in a feature and a short film receive this award. All narrative feature-length and narrative short films in the NFF lineup are eligible.

 

COMPASS ROSE ACTING AWARD
The intent of this award is to honor excellence in acting.

 

THE ADRIENNE SHELLY EXCELLENCE IN FILMMAKING AWARD
This $5,000 award is presented to a female in the film arts in honor and remembrance of Adrienne Shelly’s film legacy. All feature-length films in the NFF lineup are eligible.

 

BEST WRITER/DIRECTOR AWARD
This award goes to an individual with joint talents in screenwriting and directorial innovation.

 

BEST STORYTELLING IN A DOCUMENTARY FILM
This award acknowledges outstanding storytelling in documentary filmmaking. All documentary feature-length and short films in the NFF lineup are eligible.

 

TEEN VIEW ON NFF AWARD
The Teen View on NFF Award is given to the short film deemed most inspiring by an all-teen jury.

 

THE AUDIENCE AWARDS
For this much-loved annual distinction the audience picks its favorite films. Cast your vote for Best Feature and Best Short after the screening of each film.

 

Teen View on NFF Jury
Nantucket teenagers screen, analyze, and discuss short films at the Festival, just like the pros. The Teen View on NFF Jury will screen this year’s 25 shorts, discuss each one, and in the process learn the fundamentals of critical film analysis. The jury will give the Short Film Award to the filmmaker whose short best inspires discussion.

Jury Director Rick Colon has been on the Festival’s Screening Committee for the past ten years.
